The Magnum Opus of the Initiate
Initiates are men and women who, having realized in themselves the harmony of Love and Wisdom, have the desire to use all of their forces (mental, psychic and physical) for the benefit of humanity.
Initiates have existed in all epochs and still exist throughout the world. One can recognize them because they seek to express Love and Wisdom, and their derivatives: kindness, compassion, respect, integrity, and gnosis. They see beauty in the expression of all life and are respectful of the liberty of everyone.
It is possible now, as it always has been, to work towards becoming an Initiate. It is not extraordinarily difficult, but the path is rigorous. One has to learn to quiet the limited, personal sense of self in order to clear the way for the expression of essence and of real conscience, which is generally impeded by conditioning, weaknesses, passions, and vices.
An initiate is a free man, a free woman. This means that the disciple has liberated himself from everything that holds him prisoner of men as well as of things. An initiate is a friend of God, and as such, works to represent God on Earth, as a friend of Man, without any desire for reward. The initiate is strong, fearless, non-personal, and free.
The Magnum Opus of an initiate consists in:
attaining the knowledge of oneself, of where I come from and where I go, of what I can do, as well as of what I want.
acquiring an integral understanding of the nature of Man, of the Universe, and of God.
working against ignorance under all its guises.
instructing and enlightening others who wish it.
working to help heal the mind, soul, and body of his fellow creatures.
using initiatic sciences for the above purposes, and for them only.
uniting with the spiritual plane by the daily practice of meditation and prayer.
the synthesis of all of the above, which is the work toward realization of an integral consciousness, enlightened by the principle of charity.
